2013 CONCERTS IN THE PARK

 

Clarkdale Parks and Recreation has been providing enjoyable free concerts since 2001. Every concert is geared to provide

an evening of family fun for all ages to enjoy. This year’s series includes a special pre-season concert and eight concerts

throughout the summer months offering a wide variety of genres. Concerts are performed from the Clarkdale Town Park

Gazebo located at 1001 Main Street and are FREE to the public. The Town’s free concerts are the perfect way to spend an

enjoyable evening in the park with family, friends and neighbors.

SPECIAL PRE-SEASON CONCERT

FRIDAY, MAY 3 - THE GROOVEMONGERS

6pm - 7pm

THE GROOVEMONGERS are a high energy dance band who have have been thrilling

 listeners with a world beat approach to dance music for 14 years. Countless tours in 32

US states, Canada, the UK and the Caribbean have forged an ensemble that is equally at

home with crafted musical arrangements as with jam band improv. On fiddle, mandolin,

accordion, and drums they are pioneers of groove contra, drawing from a breathtaking

variety of styles and rhythms. From Celtic to Calypso, Southern to Salsa, Old England

to New England, Motown to Cape Town, plus a liberal dose of American Rock 'n' Roll, The Groovemonger's memorable

Long time Verde Valley residents, Chris Livas and Dave Martinez reconnected two years ago to

form the acoustic duo LIVAS MARTINEZ. They have over 50 years of musical experience which

is evident in their act - performing their own blend of harmonies. Their show includes a

mixture of classic rock from the likes of James Taylor, CSN, Cat Stevens, The Eagles and

Elton John, just to name a few.

 

 

 

 

 

 

JUNE 15 - SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY

7pm - 9pm

SENTIMENTAL JOURNEY BIG BAND is a classic 40’s Swing Era Big Band playing

your dancing favorites made famous by Glen Miller, Tommy Dorsey, Benny Goodman,

Artie Shaw, Duke Ellington, Count Basie, Les Brown and many more. They perform

the original music and arrangements which have made the Big Band Era timeless.

Sentimental Journey has kept the Big Band tradition available for over 20 years.

Members come from Prescott, Camp Verde, Cottonwood, Lake Montezuma, Sedona

JUNE 29 - TROTTERS WAKE IRISH BAND

7pm - 9pm

 

TROTTERS WAKE IRISH BAND is a five piece vocal acoustic band consisting

of Drew Monasky on Acoustic Guitar/Mandolin, Anna Merritt on Electric Piano/Bass,

Sandy Lineweaver on Keyboard, Cyndy Gaughan on Bodhran, and Megyn Neff on

fiddle.  Trotters Wake performs a mixture of Irish drinking songs, Irish and Celtic

ballads, and traditional Irish tunes (jigs, reels, etc.). They also can accommodate

some of your American favorites as well, given enough time to prepare. They are

located in Glendale, Arizona (USA) and play in the Greater Phoenix Metropolitan area

and throughout Arizona. They have more fun playing Irish music than should be legal,

and they want listeners to experience the same thing.

JULY 13 - JUNCTION 87

7pm - 9pm

 

JUNCTION 87 is one of the Rim Country’s most popular bands.  The band

consists of Billy Ichida on Lead Guitar and Fiddle, Bob Lewis, Lead Singer, Bass Guitar

and Rhythm Guitar, and Jim Norman, Bass Fiddle, Bass Guitar and Singer. In 2005,

the band underwent a change by bringing Bob on board, and they decided to get back

to their roots and perform primarily old Country and Western standards and '50's Rock

and Roll with some of the most frequently requested "Hoe-down" numbers that have

become so popular today. They received second place in the 2008 best of Payson

Awards in the Best Local Performance Group or Soloist category. In 2011, they

performed at Country Gold, one of Japan’s biggest country and western concerts —

something on the scale of Arizona’s Country Thunder - and one that has been presented for over 20 years now.

JULY 27 - CADILLAC ANGELS

7pm - 9pm

 

CADILLAC ANGELS is one of the best rockabilly bands in the land. Although based in

Arizona, the Cadillac Angels hail from Santa Barbara and have left their mark on the

music scene since the early ’80s. The band, formally known as the Roadhouse Rockers

with front man and creative genius Tony Balbinot, energizes the crowd with a kind of

music that has managed to survive 50 years of semi-obscurity and a few bursts of popularity.

AUGUST 10 - KNUCKLEHEADS

7pm - 9pm

 

Self-proclaimed "backwoods boogie-woogie R&B" band, the Knuckleheads feature five of the

Verde Valley's key crooners, including guitarists Gary Morgan and Manny Inigo, bass player George

Gehlert, drummer John Tenny, and sax aficionado Michael (Shorty) Reed.  Their repertoire includes

a unique mix of Tex Mex, Rock, and Rhythm & Blues.  To learn more about The Knuckleheads visit

AUGUST 24 - SHRI BLUES BAND

7pm - 9pm

 

Formed in 1993, SHRI BLUES BAND has become a staple in Arizona’s blues scene. With 16 European

tours, relentless gigging in the American Southwest and 13 albums of original blues music under its

belt, the band is well versed in what it takes to please a crowd. The Shri Blues Band has also been

featured in The Blues Alive - a book chronicling the history and significance of the blues and has a

Sony Music debut on a compilation album with Eric Clapton and Jimmy Page. The Shri Blues Band

takes the influences of blues, rock, soul and R&B and creates a sound that respects the tradition of

the blues but also pushes it's contemporary bounds. The band's stage show is filled with an entertaining

and danceable mix of blues, classic rock and R&B classics along with a variety of original songs that

showcase the talents of all of the band members. Over the years, the Shri Blues Band has played

some of the most prestigious festivals in Europe with blues and jazz dignitaries such as Taj Mahal,

James Brown, Marva White and the New Orleans Spiritualettes to name just a few. Shri Blues Band's

stellar lineup features vocalist Kate Parker, guitarist/vocalist Doug Fulker, guitarist Franck Giambelluco, harmonica player Nachama Greenwald,

organist Steve Ball, bassist Tina Zuccarello and drummer Zac Parker. The band recently released their latest CD entitled Lucky Thirteen

which features a total of 15 tracks, including 14 original songs. Lucky Thirteen is in fact the band's 13th album having been released in

SEPTEMBER 7 - RIO FLAMENCO

RIO FLAMENCO is a flamenco troupe based in Prescott, Arizona. Rio Flamenco offers an

exciting performance which keeps the audience on the edge of their seats. Their show is a spicy

mix of traditional flamenco dance and guitar, and hot Latin rhythms. To learn more on Rio
